TAMPA, FL December 29, 2014 – The multi-billion dollar defense industry in Tampa Bay is growing strong. According to the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, the area is home to nine of the top 10 U.S. defense contractors. In order to strengthen this growing sector, the Greater Tampa Bay Chapter of Women In Defense (WID GTB) is kicking off the new year with a networking event and membership drive.

Attendees are encouraged to invite industry personal to encourage an active network. Drink or raffle tickets will be given to those who bring an active duty service member and/or a new industry partner to the event.

“We are fortunate to have such strong resources here in the bay area,” says WID GTB President Trudy Daniels. “By connecting with other companies we can link together to build a better end-product for our customers: the men and women in uniform.” The networking event is open to the public and will be held January 6, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hula Bay, 5210 W. Tyson Avenue, Tampa. The $10 entrance fee includes appetizers. The fee is waived for active duty service members.
